Candle making

Ms I  went to a fair in Wellington and saw small teacups with candles inside. This gave us an idea for the Village fair which will be held on Saturday 3rd November.
Some of the students in Room 6 brought in old cups and saucers that weren't cracked or chipped.

A group of students with Olivia as our guide made the candles.
First one of us stirred the wax until it was all melted and then added fragrance
(coconut & lime or lavender )while the other two glued the cups onto the saucers and glued the wicks into the cups making sure they were centered. When the wax was dry enough  Olivia poured it in the cups, trying not to get any on the saucers.

We are planning to sell all 60 candles at at the fair for $10.00 each.

Grandma's Tea Party

On Tuesday 23 October, a group of Year 8s invited some guests to M.O.T.E.C to bake for them, it was called Grandmas Tea Party. It was part of our M.O.T.E.C unit "Choice Foods"where we learn't that religion, advertising and your origin effects your diet so when we make a decision on our diet we are more aware of the consequences. On our last day in the food unit, we invited guests to show what we had discovered over the course of the unit. Here are some photos from the day of us cooking, preparing and eating.

A relaxing breeze brushing past my face
A bunch of kids setting the pace
Fairy wands being plucked
Honey suckles being sucked
Pink flowers all around
The stream a far off sound
Entering a church,seeing the graves
Walking through a rest in peace maze
